Dr Kay Guccione
Kay joined the University of Glasgow as Researcher Development Manager in September 2021, and in July 2022 she took up the post of Head of Research Culture & Researcher Development. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Masters qualified, accredited leadership coach.
Since finishing her postdoc in Molecular Biology and starting my career as a Researcher Developer in 2010, she has developed specialisms and research interests in mentoring, research supervisor development and research community building – anything that revolves around a good quality conversation. In 2018 she was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in recognition of my impact in this area, and this is where her work at the University of Glasgow focuses.
Her external key projects and collaborations are the Hidden Curriculum in Doctoral Education blog and book series, the Supervising PhDs blog, Thriving Part Time — a forthcoming book, the Are You OK PhD Supervisor mental health toolkit, and her work with the UK Council for Graduate Education to develop a Recognised Associate Supervisor Award for postdoctoral researchers.
