Professional and practice-based doctorates

This report relates to the regulations governing the freedom of candidates registered for a doctoral degree of a European university to incorporate into their thesis published works based upon the results of the approved research programme.

This report focuses on practice-based doctorates but raises fundamental questions about the content, form and conduct of doctoral work. 

This report relates to the award of the degree of PhD to a candidate whose thesis consists entirely or predominantly of refereed and published articles in journals or books which are already in the public domain.
