Mentoring with Race in Mind Part 4

Leyla Okhai

Diverse Minds

This interactive workshop, developed by Transitions and Transformations: The Black Researcher’s Journey — one of the 13 Research England-funded projects focused on racial equity and access to postgraduate education — and Diversity Minds, is part 4 of a series aimed to help with mentoring schemes in schools and departments, focused on positive action in mentoring.

Part 4 of this series will focus providing tangible, positive actions to take forward in mentorship, guiding departments and schools looking to embed understandings of racial equity into mentoring programmes to understand:

  • How to set clear goals in a mentoring relationship
  • How to consider ongoing reflections while working with a mentee/mentor
  • How to prepare for your first mentoring session
